Drought Stress & Chinch Bugs

The biggest problems in our lawns during the summer months are drought stress and chinch bugs.  Determining which one is fairly easy.  I recommend checking your sprinkler and make sure you are getting adequate coverage.  Once you have determined that you are watering sufficiently and your lawn still looks like it is drying out then  physically looking for the chinch bugs would be the next step.  Here are some pictures of a drought stressed lawn, and a picture of all life stages of the chinch bug.  If you see chinch bugs you need to apply an insecticide immediately.  We recommend Bug-Out Max granules by Nitro– Phos, or if you prefer an organic treatment you can use Organocide liquid.
